Clunes - VIC
A UNIQUE VISION IN SKETCH & COLOR PHOTOGRAPHY
2004 - By John Boom
Clunes was the site of the first official gold discovery in Victoria, made by
James Esmond on July 1st 1851. Clunes is located about 25 minutes drive
from Ballarat and is located in a picturesque setting surrounded by hills.
The township is very unique in that many of the original buildings still stand
as they were back in the gold mining times. The current population is small
but the relaxed atmosphere when you stand amongst the stores in the main
street sends you back in time. Its as if time stands still in this piece of living
history within the region. There are 74 photos in this pictorial series.
